What we collect, why, where it lives, and how to have it removed.
When you apply: your first and last name, email address, where you are based, how you heard about us, whether you have prior experience with psychedelics or integration (optional), why you want to join, your agreement to the community guidelines, and your confirmation that you are 21 or over.
When you become a member: your email address and an account, so you can sign in. Passwords are stored by our authentication provider, hashed — we never see them.
Membership payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and are never seen or stored by DPS. We receive confirmation of your subscription, the amount, and an identifier for your Stripe customer — enough to manage your membership, and no more.
No analytics, no advertising or social trackers, no behavioural profiling, no location tracking. We do not buy or receive data about you from anyone else.
When you submit an application we record a salted, one-way hash of the internet address it came from, purely to limit automated spam. It cannot be turned back into your address, and we do not keep the address itself.
We keep your information with established providers rather than running our own servers:
Like most websites, we load fonts and some interface files from public content networks (Google Fonts and jsDelivr), which will see the internet address of your device as a normal part of serving that file.
DPS organizers have an internal assistant that can answer questions about applications and members and draft things like posts and emails. It runs on DeepSeek's API.
It is given membership records only — names, email addresses, tier, payment status, renewal dates. The words you write in your application are never sent to it. Your statement and any experience you describe stay in our database, readable by organizers in the review screen, and are not shared with any AI service.
Only DPS organizers with an administrative account. Access is checked on every request, and the system keeps an internal record of who approved, declined, or was granted access to what — so there is an audit trail if it is ever needed.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We would only pass it on where the law requires it, or with your clear agreement.
Approved members: for as long as you are a member, plus what we need to keep for our financial records while you are subscribed.
Declined applications: we keep these so that you can apply again without starting from nothing. If you would rather we deleted yours, email us and we will.
Applications that were never paid for: we keep them so you can pick up where you left off. Same offer: ask and we will delete it.
Email askus@detroitpsychedelicsociety.org and we will:
We are a small volunteer organisation, so please allow us a reasonable time to respond — but we will always answer.
We set no tracking or advertising cookies. If you sign in to the member portal, our authentication provider sets the cookies needed to keep you signed in — those are necessary for the portal to work at all, and are not used to follow you anywhere else.
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will say so on this page and, for anything significant, email members. The date below always reflects the current version.
